How roof truss cost is built up

Total cost is the sum of material, labor and installation. The calculator offers two ways to get material:

  • Automatic: board feet multiplied by a rate for the selected material.
  • Supplier price: enter your quoted price per truss and the calculator multiplies it by the truss count.
total = material + labor + installation (optional)

What changes the price

  • Span and pitch, because longer, steeper trusses use more lumber.
  • Spacing, because closer spacing means more trusses.
  • Lumber species and grade, plus engineered products.
  • Local delivery, crane time and design fees.

Labor is estimated at 35% of material and installation at 25%. These are planning ratios, not quotes. Compare to a per-unit view on the price per truss calculator and read the cost estimation guide.
